Formula 105 neutralizes waterborne odors in a diverse range of businesses

Neutralizing Waterborne Odors

Formula 105 has been and is now being used to neutralize waterborne odors in businesses as diverse as atomic energy plants, zirconium smelters, hotels in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, and in the Caribbean, by a glove producer in Sri Lanka, a paper company in Dubai, as well as the rendering plants, food processing plants and chemical plants that need to reduce odors. This is in addition to its use to eliminate sludge odors.

Rendering Plants

A rendering plant in Texas tried FORMULA 105 in their air scrubber and also tried chlorine dioxide, which initially appeared to be cheaper. The plant manager evaluated using large amounts of chlorine dioxide (using three pumps that were prone to breakdown with that chemical) versus small amounts of FORMULA 105 (using one pump). He concluded tha FORMULA 105 was the reliable and cost effective choice.

Pharmaceutical Plants

A biopharmaceutical plant in Massachusetts used FORMULA 105 to control lagoon odors by regularly injecting small amounts of the product. Their total suspended solids were in the range of 3500 ppm. Less than 6 months later, it was under the 400 ppm threshold level set by local wastewater authorities. The money that the plant saves on monthly sewage upcharges more than pays the cost of FORMULA 105.

Gas Company Facilities

An older facility operated by a gas company in Alberta, Canada used small amounts of FORMULA 105 to control sulfur odors -- and reduce neighbors' complaints -- while waiting for their new plant to finish construction. FORMULA 105 helped the company with public relations.

Hotels

An innovative hotel in St. John, US Virgin Islands has a unique facility that recycles wastewater for landscape irrigation. In addition to wanting minimal grey water odor, the aerated septic holding tank was near the pool area. After an initial "jolt" they found 80 ounces a week of FORMULA 105 was sufficient to maintain an odor-free system in a lovely tropical environment.

Manufacturing Plants

When used to deodorize a zirconium plant's wastewater, FORMULA 105 accelerated the flocculation of heavy metal sediment. In wastewater with aerobic bacteria, this product seems to assist bacteria. When FORMULA 105 combines with suspended solids, it not only reduces their ability to create odor, it also appears to reduce their appetite for dissolved oxygen in water. This leaves more oxygen for bacteria in the water. The bacteria become more vigorous, and digest solids more efficiently.

Wastewater Treatment Plants

A wastewater treatment plant in Texas substituted FORMULA 105 for a biocide, and were able to control hydrogen sulfide odors without harming beneficial bacteria.
